The Shopping Service is an escorted door-to-door transport service operating in the Central Buchan area.
This service uses our bespoke, fully accessible, 16 passenger seat minibus. It has low steps, rear lift for wheelchair access along with a secure cage for the safe storage of shopping.
The service is timetabled three months in advance and every registered customer is sent the relevant timetable for their area. Bookings are made on a first come, first served basis. Trips are booked one month at a time with clients able to book 3 trips per month. Pick up times are between 09:30—10:00 and return at 1430 at the latest.
A volunteer passenger assistant is available to provide support to assist passengers on and off the bus, to help with shopping and to push wheelchairs or if preferable passengers can arrange to bring their own assistant. The loan of a wheelchair or other walking aid is available – this must be pre-arranged as the equipment is not kept on the bus.
USING THE SERVICE
This service is free of charge to Concession Card holders; however, we can only continue to operate this way through the contribution of donations made from our clients. If clients do not hold a valid Concession Card a discounted fare may apply.
To qualify you must fall into one of the following categories:
- Over the age of concession
- Live with a disability
- Unable to use conventional public transport services
- including rural isolation
Please contact the main office to register for this service; we require passenger name, address and contact details. Once registered our Shopping Service Driver will arrange a suitable time to visit. Additional information is collected to ensure that all your safety and comfort needs are met.
