For over a decade Shopmobility Peterhead operated from the old, run down portacabin located in the Maiden Street Carpark of the town, pictured on the left.
The cabin was not in the best condition, it had been vandalised several times, it had numerous leaks which resulted in the flooring and roof being in poor condition which had been repaired by local charities including the Peterhead branch of Men’s Shed. Over the years the Shopmobility’s dedicated volunteers braved the elements in the cold and draughty portacabin, however following discussions and a newly formed relationship with the local charity Cornerstone, it was agreed that Buchan Dial-a-Community Bus could run the Shopmobility operations from the office located on the main pedestrianised thoroughfare of Peterhead’s 28 Marischal Street from September 2019.
